CHELSEA striker Eidur Gudjohnsen has become the latest high-profile footballer to speak out against the perils of gambling. The Iceland international is reported to have lost €625,000 in just five months while out of action due to injury.

The 24-year-old reveals he sought refuge in the casino after becoming bored and lonely while on the sidelines, with his girlfriend and two children having returned to Iceland.

“It started mainly out of boredom and killing time, until it came to the point where I was in debt,” Gudjohnsen said.
