Barthez would like to finishhis career at Marseille

FABIEN BARTHEZ yesterday admitted he would like to finish his career between the posts with Marseille.

The 32-year-old France goalkeeper re-joined his former club at the start of the month on loan from Manchester United until the end of the season.

Barthez had been training with the French club since autumn after falling out of favour with United boss Alex Ferguson.

“I really feel I would like to finish my career here in Marseille,” he said.

“I like the region and the club. There is a great atmosphere.

“When I first heard that I could come here I was extremely excited and motivated.”

Barthez won the Champions League with Marseille in 1993.

And the former United No 1 added: “I first came in Marseille at the age of 20 and I learnt everything here.

“I experienced so many things here that it helped me go through various situations afterwards.”
