Blues can handle pressure at top, says Robben

CHELSEA hero Arjen Robben has warned Arsenal that Jose Mourinho’s side can handle the pressure which comes with being top of the table.

Blues can handle pressure at top, says Robben

Robben scored his second match-winner inside a week against Everton to put the Blues two points clear of Arsenal at the summit following the Gunners’ failure to pick up more than a point from their match with Crystal Palace.

And Robben insisted: “We are in four competitions and we have to try and win all the prizes on offer. We have a very big squad with lots of quality. It is something we can achieve. No-one is more important here than the manager. He wants to win everything just as much as the players do.

“He’s the one that’s full of spirit. If you have a coach who doesn’t give a damn about things, that is not good for the team. But he has got bags of spirit and desire. We are motivated to win every game before the end of the season.

“We have shown we can handle the pressure. When you want to win big prizes, you have to deal with it.”

“I have scored two match-winning goals in a week [he scored the only goal in the Champions League victory over CSKA Moscow] and I am very happy with that return. I am pleased with my form but I can improve.”

Mourinho has instilled a steely determination into the Chelsea camp along with the winning mentality the former Porto boss so cherishes.

He said: “I want to see a cup final atmosphere in the dressing room after every game. I don’t want to see them happy only when they beat the likes of Manchester United and not so happy when they beat teams like Everton. Every game has to be a final if we want to be champions.

“My players are getting that message and I like to look into their eyes to see that they can do it.”

Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech will become the best in the world, according to Robben.

“We have got a fantastic ‘keeper who is possibly going to become the best in the world. He’s brilliant in the air and claims everything. He is only 22-years-old and has a great future.”

Cech is likely to be rested at Newcastle tomorrow night as boss Jose Mourinho looks to make a few changes from the side that beat Everton on Saturday to go top of the Premiership.
