Counterfeit Pete will be found out

MOST everything Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger have said over the last few days about the Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon is correct.

I only wish they didn't give this loathsome individual any creditability whatsoever.

If you squirm, as I do, at the number of players given to kissing their club's badge i.e. for however long they're under contract to that particular club, then consider Kenyon as 'badge-kisser extraordinaire'.

When he moved from Umbro to the boardroom at Old Trafford, he claimed life-long allegiance to Manchester United. Okay so he had a Mancunian accent! But it wasn't so long before he was wooed away by the money, sorry that should be 'career appeal', of Roman Abramovich.

So much for his love of United! Yet, I've never been convinced by the argument that Kenyon was the chief architect of United's incredible wealth any fool could 'sell' that club or the purveyor of important transfer deals.

Remember Ronaldinho and, at Chelsea, the botched affair over Ashley Cole and the protracted negotiations over Michael Essien?

You'd have thought, with all that money, Kenyon's job would be a piece of cake. Why isn't it so? Could it be that he's a grotesquely over-rated individual whose stumbling steps forward in the football field always find the cowpat? Personally, I can't wait for his fall.

So, Alex and Arsene, don't give the man any publicity he doesn't deserve. One day, hopefully soon when the Russian catches on, we'll all be cheering.
