The fee has not been disclosed but Jensen’s agent Karsten Aabrink confirmed yesterday that the player had put pen to paper.

The Denmark international, who still had one year left on his contract with the Barclaycard Premiership club, will join up with his new team-mates at a training camp in Austria.

Jensen will be seen as a replacement for Jorg Heinrich who has joined Cologne. The fee paid by Dortmund is believed to be just less than the £750,000 City paid FC Copenhagen for Jensen.

Jensen’s City options were limited with former Bayern Munich defender Michael Tarnat expected to begin the season as Kevin Keegan’s first-choice left-back.

Meanwhile, Vitesse Arnhem will unveil Rangers defender Bert Konterman as their latest signing at a press conference this morning.

The Dutch Eredivisie club have agreed a two-year deal with the former Holland international, who replaces Dejan Stefanovic after his £1.85million move to Portsmouth.

The 32-year-old left Feyenoord for Scotland in 2000, and will sign on a free transfer after he was released by the Gers this summer.
