NEWCASTLE keeper Shay Given has no intention of settling for valiant defeat in the UEFA Cup semi-final.

The Republic of Ireland international, who celebrated his 28th birthday yesterday, was as disappointed as anybody when the Magpies slipped out of the Champions League in the final qualifying round amid an indifferent start to the season.

Bobby Robson's men have since launched something of a recovery to reach the semi-finals of the UEFA Cup and leave themselves in pole position in the race for a third successive top-four finish in the Premiership.
