FAI dismiss reports of a meeting between Kerr and Keane
Merrion Square officials dismissed the reports as rumour after Keane intimated in Dublin earlier this year he had unfinished business with the Irish team.
Kerr has yet to comment on a Keane return but has gone on record saying he would welcome back any player who retired from international football, but subsequently changed their mind.
That would not only include Keane, but Charlton's Dean Kiely and Gary Kelly of Leeds United.
Meanwhile, the FAI have yet to confirm Ireland's involvement in a three-nation tournament with Nigeria and Jamaica. The tournament is due to take place in London between Ireland's May 27 friendly with Romania and their friendly with the Netherlands in Amsterdam during the June Bank Holiday weekend.
The Nigerian FA announced yesterday they would be playing Ireland on May 26th in St Mary's Stadium, just a day before the Romanian friendly match. However, a FAI spokesperson said negotiations were still on-going.
"We are still talking with Nigeria and Jamaica about playing in the tournament, between the Romanian and Dutch games. But nothing has been decided yet."
Graham Kavanagh is recovering quicker than expected from an ankle operation and may return to action before the end of the season and be involved in the squads for the friendlies against Romania and the Netherlands.
"If my rehab goes well, I might get a game or two this season," the midfielder said. "We've got a chance of getting into the play-offs and the thought of being involved is keeping me going.
"But I'm not going to risk breaking down again by rushing back before I'm 100% fit," he said.
