Clubs escape SFA rap

HEARTS and Celtic have escaped punishment from the Scottish Football Association following their supporters’ misbehaviour at the weekend.

Clubs escape SFA rap

The Premier League game between the clubs at Tynecastle on Sunday was marred by incidents involving both sets of fans.

Celtic goalkeeper Rab Douglas was struck with a coin and television pictures showed two Hoops fans spitting at Hearts goalkeeper Craig Gordon.

The SFA were awaiting referee Kenny Clark's report of the game before deciding whether to take any action against Hearts following the coin incident.

But the official opted not to mention the incident, including only the 10 bookings in the game meaning the Tynecastle club escape any punishment from the SFA.

One Celtic supporter turned himself in to the club following the spitting incident and Drew Herbertson, Head of Disciplinary Affairs at the SFA, insists the matter is between the club and their fans.

Celtic have decided to suspend the supporter's season ticket indefinitely.
