ENGLAND coach Ray Clemence has claimed events in Sunderland’s Stadium of Light tunnel after the Turkish game Wednesday night were merely “colourful exchanges”.

The former Liverpool and Tottenham goalkeeper insists reports of a "tunnel bust-up" after the 2-0 European Championship qualifier have been "blown out of all proportion".

Gareth Southgate has claimed throat-slitting gestures were made towards England players by a member of the Turkish party in the tunnel after the game.
