Zamora and blasted rivals Chelsea’s money-no-object transfer policy as “inflationary”.

Hoddle reportedly paid £6.2million for 20-year-old Portuguese striker Helder Postiga last month but that was before Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich took over at Stamford Bridge and pledged to buy the very best, no matter what the cost.

Hoddle said: "As far as Chelsea are concerned the market is inflationary.
