Stakes high as Cork aim for top spot
For Cork, two points behind Derry City, this is the game in hand which could see them return to the top of the table with just two matches remaining for both of the leading contenders - and the tantalising prospect that it could all come down to a final decider between the Leesiders and the Candystripes at Turner’s Cross on November 18.
But first, Cork have to play Rovers and then high-flying Shelbourne, while Derry’s penultimate game, against St Pats - the timing of which had been at the centre of a protracted stand-off - has now been officially fixed for next Saturday in The Brandywell at 5pm and will be broadcast live on RTÉ.
