ASTON Villa midfielder Eric Djemba-Djemba will be out of action until the beginning of May with the hamstring injury suffered in training last week.

Blow for Villa as Djemba-Djemba ruled out for six weeks

The Cameroon international, signed from Manchester United in the January transfer window, will be sidelined for around six weeks.

Djemba-Djemba has made only four appearances since his £1.3m move from Old Trafford and was left out of the side for Villa’s 2-0 win against Middlesbrough 11 days ago.

Villa Manager David O’Leary has already admitted he expects the player not to show his best form until he has a full pre-season under his belt after only playing spasmodically for United.

O’Leary said: “Eric has picked up this hamstring strain in training and I would imagine it will be something like six weeks that he is out of action.”
