Cork must replace suspended O’Callaghan
O'Callaghan was shown the red card in the second half after a clash with Bohs' defender Colin Hawkins and he will have to serve an automatic one-match suspension.
Whether his ban will be limited to one match will depend upon how the incident is described in the referee's report. Cork manager Liam Murphy yesterday was considering two options for the vacant centre-forward position David Warren or Colin P O'Brien.
Warren, who returned to his native Cork from Wrexham at the start of the season, has played on both flanks for Cork this season and not at centre-forward. He was, however, a centre-forward when he was signed by Wrexham.
Colin P O'Brien created something of a sensation when he burst on the scene with Cork last season but he has not had much exposure this season. He was substitute against Bohs but did not play. Murphy said he did not anticipate making any further changes in the team that fought back so well to draw with Bohs and held on for a point despite their numerical disadvantage.
Meanwhile, a last-minute goal from Willie Bruton on Saturday secured maximum points for Cobh against brave Sligo Rovers in the Eircom Division 1 game at St Colman's Park. The home side got off to a dreadful start when bad defending by Gareth O'Donovan and Michael Brosnan allowed Luther Wilson to drill the ball wide of John Donegan in the Ramblers net.
Ramblers created a great chance in the 28th minute when a pinpoint Dave Hill corner was met with a thundering header by Jason Kabia but it just went inches wide of the post.
The home side continued to up the tempo on the resumption of the second half and a Dave Hill free kick in the opening minute was just off target. Cobh were lucky to escape when Steven Yelverton appeared to punch the ball away in the penalty area but the unsighted referee never saw the offence.
Ramblers' pressure finally paid off when they were awarded a penalty in the 68th minute as Willie Bruton was taken down by the Sligo keeper Jason Kabia slotted home the resultant penalty.
With time running out, Cobh snatched victory with a stunning goal. Substitute Gerald Dobbs gathered the ball on the halfway line before chipping a beautiful through ball to Bruton who fired home the winner and moved Ramblers into second place.
At Finn Park, a youthful Galway United defeated Finn Harps 3-1.
"We were missing four regulars and had a very young side out including 16-year-old Sean Murphy and 17-year-old Barry Moran, who got two of our goals," said delighted Galway boss Tony Mannion
"It's a great result for us but I still think Finn Harps will be there or thereabouts. They have plenty of experience and it's a highly inconsistent league," he noted.
Galway got off to a whirlwind start with two goals in eight minutes. Moran fired home the first from just inside the box in the fourth minute after Harps lost possession.
And he then turned provider for Alan Murphy to sprint past Jonathan Minnock and evade goalkeeper Tony Blake before adding the second.
Harps pulled one back before the break with a 20 yard drive from Paddy McGrenaghan, but Galway sealed the points with Moran lobbing Blake for the third on 56 minutes.
