Djemba gets ‘call’ to play for United
The 22-year-old claimed: "I got some phone calls telling me United were interested and I'm thrilled such a big club have come in for me.
"I have already met Sir Alex Ferguson at Nantes and it was great to meet such a famous manager.
"I was stunned when I heard a deal had been agreed. I'm so excited about playing in England."
Djemba-Djemba is currently playing for his country in the Confederations Cup - and if the move goes ahead it is unlikely to take place until after the competition is completed.
Meaanwhile, Paris St Germain president Francis Graille believes Manchester United's target Ronaldinho is still coveted by Real Madrid, but he has no intention of selling.
The 23-year-old World Cup winner with Brazil, currently on national team duty in the Confederations Cup, has been linked with a move to Madrid, Barcelona and United.
Real were thought to be out of the picture after agreeing a £25 million deal for England captain David Beckham pending a medical on July 2 but Graille has confirmed he is still in contact with the Primera Liga leaders.
"We have remained in phone contact with Real Madrid in the past few days," he said. Ronaldinho's brother and agent Roberto Assis met with Barcelona's new vice president Sandro Rosell after Brazil's 1-0 defeat defeat to Cameroon in Paris.
Assis hinted Ronaldinho could still move after the Confederations Cup final, adding his final destination will be revealed on June 29.
Graille, who pledged not to sell Ronaldinho when he took over from Laurent Perpere at the end of the season, is determined to keep him in the French capital.
