With the funds generated from the change will be invested in the Player Pathways of Connacht, Munster and Ulster which will be overseen by IRFU Performance Director David Humphreys.

CHANGES: Following a planned review of its funding model, the IRFU have announced that from August 1 2026 Provinces will be responsilble for 40% of the cost of National Player Contracts which is a 10% increase on the current 30%. Pic:

Following a planned review of its funding model, the IRFU have announced that from August 1 2026 Provinces will be responsilble for 40% of the cost of National Player Contracts which is a 10% increase on the current 30%.

The change comes after a review which considered both the evolving financial landscape of Irish Rugby and the need to maintain competitiveness of the Provincial and National teams.
