IRELAND V ENGLAND: The Six Nations kicks off this weekend and here is all you need to know about Ireland's clash with England.
The Guinness Six Nations is back and Ireland will start the defence of their title when they welcome England to the Aviva Stadium this Saturday. Ireland are going for three titles-in-a-row but England will look to spoil the party as they aim to win the title for the first time since 2020.
It promises to be an exciting opening clash. Here is all you need to know ahead of the game.
The game will take place in the Aviva Stadium in the first of Ireland two home games in this year's tournament.
The game kicks-off at 4.45pm on Saturday February 1.
Virgin Media will be broadcasting the match and their coverage starts at 4pm. RTÉ Radio also have live commentary while, as ever, The Irish Examiner will have a liveblog providing updates on the best of the action as it happens.
New Zealand's Ben O’Keefe will be the man in the middle for the clash.
Tadhg Furlong was ruled out of Ireland’s Guinness Six Nations opener against England this Saturday after suffering a recurrence of calf strain in training. Furlong returned to Dublin for further assessment on Sunday having gone down in training the day at Ireland’s Quinta do Lago warm-weather base on Portugal’s Algarve the previous day. Uncapped Connacht tighthead prop Jack Aungier has been called into the squad to join provincial team-mate Finlay Bealham and Leinster’s Thomas Clarkson as the selection options for interim head coach Simon Easterby ahead of Thursday’s team announcement in Dublin.
