Peter O'Mahony and Oli Jager have been ruled out of Munster's URC derby clash with Leinster at Croke Park on Saturday while Graham Rowntree is waiting of confirmation on the availability of Mike Haley, Tom Ahern and Alex Nankivell.
Both tighthead prop Jager and flanker O'Mahony were first-half withdrawals due to injury in last Saturday's 23-0 bonus-point win at home to Ospreys in Cork and respective neck and hamstring issues have made them unavailable for the round-four clash in Dublin.
Full-back Haley was replaced in the second half at Virgin Media Park with a dead leg and his availability will be determined later this week ahead of Friday's team announcement.
The same applies to lock/flanker Ahern who has been absent with an ankle injury since June, and centre Nankivell who has missed the last two games with a shoulder problem.
Yet there is good news concerning wing Calvin Nash, who has been passed fit for selection despite also failing to finish the game against Ospreys while centre/wing Sean O'Brien has been released by Emerging Ireland in South Africa to alleviate Munster’s lack of fit and available back-three options with Shane Daly (elbow) and Thaakir Abrahams (thigh) deemed unavailable for Croke Park.
Back-rower Ruadhán Quinn is following the return to play protocols and his availability will be determined later in the week while fly-half Billy Burns is increasing his training output this week and the summer signing's availability will also be determined in the coming days.
Longer-term absentees Rory Scannell (ankle) and Paddy Patterson (knee) were on Tuesday described by Munster as making good progress and are set to increase their training exposure this week but Patrick Campbell is set to undergo surgery on a shoulder injury he sustained in AIL action for Garryowen last month and Josh Wycherley will visit a specialist this week for a neck injury.
No further update was provided for rehabbing players Liam Coombes (leg), Diarmuid Kilgallen (leg), Brian Gleeson (shoulder), Cian Hurley (knee), Edwin Edogbo (achilles), and Roman Salanoa (knee).
