Andy Farrell has outlined the measures taken by Ireland’s medics to pass fit Calvin Nash to face Scotland in this Saturday’s Guinness Six Nations title bid and backed World Rugby’s return to play protocols for head injuries.

Nash has retained his place on the right wing having been removed in last Saturday’s Twickenham loss to England after taking a blow to the head in the act of tackling Tommy Freeman. The Munster star failed his initial Head Injury Assessment, HIA 1, when he left the pitch but has passed every subsequent test and was named in an unchanged Ireland XV revealed by head coach Farrell on Thursday.
