A man is due before the Criminal Courts of Justice this morning in relation to an ongoing investigation into the activities of a criminal group.
The man, who is in his 20s, is the third person to be arrested as part of the probe into more than 40 incidents, including theft, deception and unauthorised taking of vehicles in Carlow and Dublin.
The investigation is overseen by Gardaí from the South-Central Crime Functional Area of Pearse Street in Dublin as part of Operation Thor. It is part of ongoing inquiries targeting the activities of a criminal group following a series of incidents in the Dublin region and across the country in 2025.
The man, who was arrested and detained on Wednesday under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, 2007, is due to appear in court in Dublin.
Gardaí previously arrested two individuals on Thursday January 22, in relation to the same investigation, following five searches of premises in the Dublin and Carlow regions.
These searches were conducted by members attached to the DMR South Central Crime Task Force.
Gardaí said the men, both aged in their 20s, who were previously arrested in connection with this investigation, have since been charged.
Investigations are ongoing.
Operation Thor was launched in November 2015 with the aim of detecting and preventing incidents of burglary and associated criminal activity by undertaking targeted enforcement and preventative activity.
“This initiative continues to have a positive impact on the reduction of property related crime in Irish communities," a spokesperson added.
