Munster second-row RG Snyman is free to continue building up his minutes having returned from a chest/shoulder problem that had ruled him out for a large portion of the province's season.

Snyman returned to action last Friday night in the victory over Scarlets having undergone surgery to correct an injury suffered during the Springboks' World Cup final win over the All Blacks last October.

29-year-old Snyman - due to join Leinster ahead of the 2024/25 campaign - departed the field during the 42-7 victory in Llanelli, but has been passed fit to face English Premiership side Harlequins in the mid-season friendly this coming Friday (Kick-off, 7.45pm).

While the 6ft 9in lock will be in contention for minutes at the Twickenham Stoop, academy back-rower Ruadhán Quinn failed his HIA and will now have to complete return-to-play protocols.

The visit to the London side will represent the first time a Munster outfit has run out at The Stoop since the 18-12 win in the 2012/13 Champions Cup quarter-final.

Former Munster hooker and coach Jerry Flannery - who is set to take up a coaching role with the Springboks in the near future - is currently in charge of the defence at 2020/21 Premiership champions Harlequins, where he works alongside attack coach Nick Evans and scrum coach Adam Jones.

Tabai Matson was appointed to the head coach role prior to the 2021/22 season.

Munster have categorised the following players as "continuing to rehab": Simon Zebo (knee), Patrick Campbell (shoulder), John Hodnett (finger), Paddy Patterson (knee), Jack O’Donoghue (knee), Dave Kilcoyne (shoulder), Diarmuid Barron (foot), Jean Kleyn (eye/knee), Liam Coombes (shoulder), Roman Salanoa (knee).

Elsewhere, uncapped pair Tom Ahern and Oli Jager have joined Andy Farrell's Ireland squad ahead of the Six Nations clash against Wales on Saturday.

Jeremy Loughman and Conor Murray also return to the international fold after featuring in Friday’s win, joining captain Peter O’Mahony, Tadhg Beirne, Craig Casey, Jack Crowley and Calvin Nash in Irish camp.
