Graham Rowntree paid tribute to Stephen Archer after the prop became Munster’s record-equalling appearance maker on Saturday night. The 35-year-old tighthead came off the bench to earn a 269th cap for his province and match Donncha O’Callaghan’s milestone in front of a Thomond Park crowd of 15,044 as Munster beat the Stormers.

Archer will surpass the retired lock with selection this Saturday against Leinster and his head coach joked: “Going to have to pick him next week now, won’t I?
