Ard Scoil Ris and St Clement’s advanced to the quarter finals of the Clayton Hotels Munster Senior and Junior Schools cups respectively with victories in all Limerick derbies at the University of Limerick today, writes Barry Coughlan.

Ard Scoil held out under intense pressure in the closing stages to see off a gritty St Munchin’s side on a 10-5 score line.

Hero of the day was out half Darragh O’Gorman who did all the scoring. He grabbed a first half try and conversion and then kicked a crucial penalty in the second half. Jake Murphy got the only St Munchin’s score, a first half try.

In the thrilling junior game, St Clement’s scored an injury time try to edge out gallant Glenstal Abbey, winning the match 20 to 17.

Adam McNamara, Cian Casey and Tarkan Pinarci got the tries for the winners, with Craig Casey kicking a conversion and penalty, while Glenstal had a try and penalty from Josh Kennedy, a try from Adam White and two conversions from William Twomey.
