Japanese player attempts swan dive try. It does not go well.

Japan defeated Italy 26-5 in the final of the HSBC Sevens World Series qualifiers in Hong Kong on Saturday.

It was an historic win for Japanese rugby as they booked their place on next season's HSBC Sevens World Series as a core side, the first ever Asian nation to do so.

However the game was also memorable for the following epic fail - Japan's Kosuke Hashino has a clear run to the try line and attempts a stylish swan dive to ground the ball.

It does not quite go as planned.

Fair play to him. At least he had the decency to look mortified - and it didn't affect the result.
