Murray: Ireland have point to prove at Twickenham

Conor Murray says he is looking forward to getting his teeth stuck into England on Saturday in the RBS Six Nations.

Today it's a day off for the Irish squad but minds won't switch off ahead of the trip to Twickenham where you have to feel there will be revenge on the minds of the men in green.

On the last visit to Twickenham, it was a very un-happy St Patricks Day as Ireland were steamrolled on a score line of 30-9.

Munster scrum-half Murray was injured that day but knows even though Ireland have different form this year, there will be a big point to prove.

"Looking back it was a tough day for the lads particularly in the scrum which did get dismantled and the lads have looked back on that and feel that they have a bit of a point to prove," Murray said.

From right before the Championship started, up until this point having seen off Scotland and Wales, Ireland are still favourites for the Grandslam, but first thing's first, there is a Triple Crown for the taking.

Murray says England is by far Ireland's biggest threat to winning a Championship and knows the home side will be fearless this weekend.

"It's our first away game and it's against a side that's going really well, a side that has a blend of experience and inexperience but with that comes youth and a bit of fearlessness and there are threats all over the park."

After Murray's performance on the Lions tour last year and his link up with Jonathan Sexton, the partnership was awarded the title of the world's best out-half partnership.

Murray though sees a great danger with his fiery opposite number Danny Care who will and has been ripping apart many a frontline with Harlequins and England, Murray says he rates the livewire number 9 very highly.

Murray said: "I played against Care last year leading into the Heineken Cup. He's a threat and will try anything from anywhere on the pitch. He has the ability to pull off some really spectacular plays and is someone we will really have to keep an eye on. "

"He likes to snipe in and around the rucks and will try little dinks and throw offloads, whoever is in that frontline defence I will try and talk to and make sure we have an eye on him and his quick taps."
