Stringer commits to Bath

Veteran Munster scrum-half Peter Stringer has signed a new contract extension which will keep him at Premiership outfit Bath next season.

The 98 times capped Irish international Stringer was originally brought in on a short-term loan as injury cover for regular starter Michael Claassens, but has since gone on to make the starting number 9 shirt his own.

With Conor Murray and Duncan Williams ahead of him in the pecking order at Munster the 35-year-old looked elsewhere for game time at a high level and hit the ground running at Bath, scoring two tries on his debut.

Speaking of his decision, Stringer said, "“I still feel like I have a lot to give on the rugby field, and really wanted to keep on playing, so was happy to agree a new contract here.

“I’ve really enjoyed my time with Bath so far, and am looking forward to next season already.”

Bath Head Coach, Gary Gold, added "“Strings has been fantastic for us in the short time he has been here so far, so we’re really pleased he’s agreed to stay here for next season rather than going back to Ireland.

“He is the consummate professional in everything he does, both on and off the field, and that sets a great example for the entire squad.”
