Tuohy confident Connacht can overturn Glasgow

Connacht winger Brian Touhy has backed his teammates to get a much needed win against the Glasgow Warriors when they visit the Sportsground on Saturday (5.30pm).

Last February Connacht welcomed the Warriors to Galway fresh from beating the Scarlets the week before and hammered the Scottish outfit by thirty points.

Tuohy was instrumental in that victory, crossing for two tries but the winger won’t be in a position to repeat his achievement this weekend having been ruled out with a broken leg.

Connacht may have ended a 14 game run of defeats with a historic triumph over Harlequins in the Heineken Cup but they desperately need to build some momentum in the PRO12 where they sit third from bottom.

By way of contrast, the Warriors are third in the table and have lost just one game in their last five PRO12 outings but Tuohy has insists the home crowd will inspire Connacht to victory on Saturday.

"I've no doubt the lads can turnover Glasgow this Saturday,” the 27-year old said.

“They know what they're about, they know they can beat them at home in front of a home crowd and after the victory over Harlequins three weeks ago the team know they have what it takes to take on a high-flying team that are going well and get a result.

“The fact that Glasgow are third in the League won't phase them too much either and I know everyone's looking forward to getting back to winning ways after last weekend's loss to Cardiff, especially in front of the home crowd in the Sportsground.

“The noise they produced in the last Heineken Cup game here was unbelievable and it really does make a difference on the pitch."
