Stringer considers move away from Munster
Peter Sringer could be set to leave Munster at the end of the season after admitting that he is prepared to finish his career elsewhere if he is unable to force his way back into Tony McGahan’s plans, according to Cork's Evening Echo newspaper.
Stringer, whose Munster contract expires in May, has fallen behind Conor Murray and Tomás O’Leary in the province’s pecking order of scrum-halves, while Duncan Williams started ahead of the 33-year-old for the Munster A side in last weekend’s British & Irish Cup win over Neath.
“I’ll see how things go over the next couple of months,” said Stringer. “If I find myself in the same position then I’ll have to reassess but it’s difficult to know now.
“I love Munster and I wouldn’t want to play anywhere else but I want to be playing regularly, like every player does, so we’ll have to wait and see.
“All players will look at all their options when their contract is coming to an end, but given the situation I find myself in, it might force my hand into looking a bit harder.
“Munster has been incredibly special to me but I need to be playing. If that’s with Munster, so be it, but if not I’ll enjoy the rest of my playing days wherever I may be.”
