Leinster in good shape ahead of Munster clash

Having struggled with World Cup absentees and a growing injury list for the majority of the RaboDirect PRO 12 season, Joe Schmidt’s squad is finally nearing full-strength with no fresh injury concerns to report.

Leinster stepped up their preparations ahead of Friday night’s RaboDirect PRO12 derby with Munster at the Aviva Stadium (8pm) with a training session in UCD.

Aside from the usual bumps and bruises from Friday night’s 36-28 victory over Edinburgh in Murrayfield, Leinster escaped unscathed and more Ireland internationals may make their return to the squad for the first time this season after their involvement in the Rugby World Cup.

In addition, Isa Nacewa who was rested for the game in Scotland, is also expected to return to the panel. Another returning player Jonathan Sexton – who was withdrawn in the 80th minute as a precaution with minor cramp - kicked 23 points on his first outing for the province this term in a game which also saw number eight Leo Auva’a score his first senior try.

Mike Ross’s appearance in the Scottish capital was his 49th for the province in both league and Heineken Cup competitions while in a further boost Rob Kearney (who made his 105th appearance) successfully came through his first game in Leinster colours in a little over a year.
