Munster coach Tony McGahan has named young backs Felix Jones and Conor Murray in his starting line-up for tomorrow night’s Magners League clash with Leinster at Thomond Park, kick-off 7.30pm.
Garryowen scrum-half Murray has enjoyed a meteoric rise in the number nine jersey in recent times. With Tomás O’Leary out injured, Murray has leapfrogged veteran Peter Stringer and Duncan Williams in the pecking order and now looks likely to start Munster’s Amlin Challenge Cup quarter-final tie against Brive next weekend. Murray links up with Ronan O'Gara at half back.
Former Leinster academy member Jones, who has just recently returned from a serious knee injury, is named at fullback alongside Keith Earls and Ex-All Black Doug Howlett. Johne Murphy and Lifeimi Mafi occupy the centre sports with Sam Tuitupou providing cover from the bench.
Tony Buckley, Damian Varley and Wian Du Preez make up the frontrow while Donncha O’Callaghan and Paul O’Connell renew their long-term provincial and international secondrow partnership.
Surprisingly, Denis Leamy is named on the bench as McGahan opts for a backrow of Donnacha Ryan, James Coughlan and David Wallace.
The Munster bench is packed with experience in the form of John Hayes, Marcus Horan, Leamy, Stringer and Paul Warwick named.
