Kidney: More to do

Ireland coach Declan Kidney admitted there was plenty of room for improvement following today's record 29-9 victory over Argentina.

Jonathan Sexton kicked 17 points while Stephen Ferris and Gordon D'Arcy scored tries in an ugly win against the one-dimensional Pumas at Aviva Stadium.

"I thought we were good and positive in the first half and when we had the ball we played really well," Kidney told BBC 2.

"When Argentina got the ball in the second half they held onto it and we conceded some turnovers, which made it easier for them.

"We're delighted with the win, it's a good way to end the November series and it puts us in good stead for the Six Nations.

"But there are loads of areas we need to look at. We're far from the finished product.

"We set out to do some things this November, some of which we achieved by building a squad. But there's an awful lot of work to do."

Man of the match Jamie Heaslip was pleased with Ireland's tactics against dogged opposition.

"We did a good job and got the win, which was the important thing," he said.

"We had two losses in three games coming into this match, which was the last one before the Six Nations, so we wanted to leave a good taste in the mouth.

"As a whole we played well. Argentina did well to close down our space but our gameplan adapted to that."
