Munster centre Sam Tuitupou has today been banned for three weeks for ‘a dangerous tackle’ on London Irish scrum-half Paul Hodgson.

All Black Tuitupou pleaded not guilty to the citing complaint.

After considering the evidence and hearing submissions, Simon Thomas (Wales), determined that Tuitupou had committed the act of foul play and imposed a suspension of three weeks.

Tuitupou will be free to play again on November 1, 2010.

It means that he will miss out on Munster’s Heineken Cup match against Toulon on Saturday and the Magner’s League fixtures against Benetton Treviso (October 22) and Ulster (October 29).

The suspension puts a real strain on the Munster midfield, with Lifeimi Mafi also on the sidelines after being handed a seven-week ban for a dangerous tackle in a Magners League match last week.

Tuitupou has the right of appeal.
