Dolphin had to come from behind to edge out their provincial rivals Young Munster in a lively Division One fixture at Tom Clifford Park.

Battling the threat of relegation, Young Munster have not been having the best of luck this season and they were unfortunate here not to hold on for a share of the spoils.

With the sides locked level at 7-7, disaster struck for the Cookies when Dolphin out-half Barry Keeshan kicked the match-winning drop goal four minutes into injury-time.

Versatile back Clem Casey notched a 31st-minute try for Young Munster, which full-back Matthew Costelloe converted, and it remained 7-0 for half-time.

A try in the corner from back rower Robbie Allen, superbly converted from the touchline by Keeshan, tied it up after 52 minutes.

And Dolphin, with their key players coming to the fore, manufactured that late drop goal to keep themselves in the top four, with only two rounds of matches left before the semi-finals.

Scorers:

Young Munster: Try: Clem Casey; Con: Matthew Costelloe

Dolphin: Try: Robbie Allen; Con: Barry Keeshan; Drop: Barry Keeshan
