The Leinster Youths secured second place and a home semi-final against Munster after Christmas on beating them 19-6 in Donnybrook this afternoon.

The Blues opened the scoring after three minutes with a penalty from Niall Earls.

The Wicklow out-half added a second penalty after 25 minutes and Leinster went into the interval leading 6-0.

Munster got on the score sheet five minutes after the interval with a penalty from Adrian Doyle and in the next four minutes traded a penalty apiece with Earls to leave the score at 9-6.

But the hosts pulled away with a Ciaran Dooley try after some excellent work by Gavin Kennedy in the loose after 51 minutes.

The consistent Earls added the conversion and a 65th minute penalty to end Leinster’s campaign on an impressive note.

MUNSTER SCORERS: A. Doyle (2 penalties)
