Connacht appoint provincial domestic games manager
Connacht Rugby has today announced the appointment of Martin Gallagher to the position of provincial domestic games manager.
Gallagher, a former regional development officer with the English RFU, was previously director of rugby with the Canadian national side, a post which he has held for the past two years.
"Connacht has a rich tradition of sport and both Connacht and Ireland rugby is on the rise," said Gallagher. "I could not have asked for a better time to be appointed to such a prestigious position and I am truly delighted to be here.
"Connacht Rugby and the culture of the game, the people who make it happen and the challenges that lie ahead are all ones that I am looking forward to sharing in.
"The opportunity to work and share experiences will ensure that we face our challenges and meet expectations as we move forward."
Mr Gallagher will play an integral part in the planning and delivery of all programmes (players, clubs, schools, referees, coaching, and marketing/promotion) as set out in the strategic goals of each branch and the IRFU.
Connacht Rugby CEO, Gerry Kelly said: "The appointment of Martin Gallagher and the other provincial domestic game managers is a significant move towards developing the game among clubs, schools and all the other stakeholders in Connacht and Irish rugby."
