Garryowen secure semi-final spot

Garryowen eased their way into the Division One semi-finals as they ran in eight tries past bottom side Carlow.

The Limerick men ran amok at Dooradoyle as their 13th win saw them move back into first place.

Early tries from hooker Pat Humphries (2) got them on their way. Garryowen led 35-7 at the break with scrum-half Gerry Hurley, winger Ciaran O’Boyle and centre Kevin Hartigan also touching down.

Winger Ross Jackson grabbed Carlow’s only score. The Sky Blues’ rout continued in the second half with tries from replacement hooker Damien Varley, Hurley and back row Paul Neville.
