Gatland ready for test from Exiles

London Irish may be in the midst of their worst run of results this season - but Wasps boss Warren Gatland is still expecting fireworks at the Madejski Stadium tomorrow.

The Exiles have lost four of their last six matches and would have dropped worryingly close to the relegation battle had they not accounted for Saracens last weekend.

Gatland said: “Although we have had some good results against London Irish over the past few seasons, they are never an easy side to play.

“They are playing good rugby at the moment, and their win last weekend over Saracens proves they are dangerous and confident.

“We are looking to build on our victory against Northampton and maintain a good set of results over the next few weeks.”

Wasps have lost Matt Dawson, Josh Lewsey, Joe Worsley and Johnny O’Connor to tomorrow’s RBS 6 Nations showdown between England and Ireland – so Gatland has had to make several changes.

Meanwhile Irish head coach Gary Gold has made one change following the victory over Saracens, hooker James van der Walt replacing Robbie Russell who is on international duty with Scotland.
