Bulloch to skipper Scots

Gordon Bulloch has been named Scotland captain for the RBS 6 Nations Championship.

The Glasgow Warriors hooker skippered the team in the autumn Test series against Australia, South Africa and Japan.

Now Scotland coach Matt Williams has asked Bulloch to take the armband again for the Six Nations.

The 29-year-old became Scotland's most-capped hooker when he made his 53rd appearance against Wales in the World Cup countdown Test in August 2003.

He captained the team for the first time a week later against Ireland. Bulloch also led the team in the World Cup win against USA.

He made a late entry to the 2001 Lions touring party, to cover injuries in the squad, and played as a substitute in the first Test win against Australia.

Bulloch is now hoping for an improvement on results in the Six Nations after the disappointing November series.

The 70-times capped international saw his team lose twice to the Wallabies and once to South Africa – although a 100-8 against Japan was a highlight.

The Glasgow hooker is relishing the chance to lead the team again.

Bulloch said: “The results during the autumn Tests did not go as we hoped or expected, and we are determined to show what we can do during the Six Nations.

“It is always an honour to play for your country, so to be asked to captain the team again is fantastic.”
