Ulster openside Neil McMillan has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

McMillan will require reconstructive surgery on the knee and he will be a big loss to Ulster at a crucial stage of the season.

Ulster Rugby chief executive Michael Reid said: “The news of the extent of Neil’s injury is extremely disappointing for him personally, and a blow to the Ulster Squad as a whole.

“However, being the very dedicated player he is, and with the support of the Ulster Medical Staff, I am confident that he will be back, better than ever next season.”
