Tigers to choose replacement to Richards
Leicester are expected to unveil their new head coach tomorrow as their search for Dean Richards’ replacement finally looks over.
Richards, the most decorated coach in the English game, left Welford Road in February following a disastrous run of results which saw the club endure early exits from the Heineken and Powergen Cups.
Their league position also suffered following the loss of eight players to the World Cup, although the Tigers have since managed to steady the ship by climbing up to seventh in the Zurich Premiership.
John Wells has overseen coaching duties since Richards’ departure, with help from club veterans Martin Johnson and Neil Back, and will retain control of the forwards when the new management set-up is announced.
Montferrand player-coach Pat Howard, who enjoyed a successful spell at Leicester which saw him help the Tigers land the 2001 Heineken Cup, has been touted as the most likely successor.
