Wales’ opening summer Test against Argentina has been switched from Buenos Aires to Tucuman as part of the region’s 60th anniversary celebrations.

Argentine Rugby Union chiefs have confirmed the June 12 move, which will be new coach Mike Ruddock’s first Test match in charge.

Wales have only played once in what is regarded as the hot-bed of Argentine rugby, when Graham Henry’s 1999 touring side beat Tucuman Province 69-44.

It will be the first time since Italy’s visit nine years ago that the Pumas have hosted an international side in Tucuman.

The second Test, on June 19, remains in Buenos Aires, with Wales then tackling South Africa in Pretoria seven days later.
