Ben Cohen is in contention for an England place against RBS 6 Nations Championship opponents Wales next weekend – despite having his knuckles rapped by Twickenham top brass.

Northampton wing Cohen has had his England ticket allocation for the rest of this season suspended after the Rugby Football Union discovered that one of his tickets had found its way to an unofficial ticket agency.

While the RFU appear to accept that Cohen did not sell the ticket for a profit, they still hold him responsible for its distribution.

“The RFU has written to the England player, Ben Cohen of Northampton Saints, and informed him that his England ticket allocation has been suspended for the remainder of the season,” said RFU management board chairman Graeme Cattermole.

“Our enquiries suggest that Ben Cohen did not sell his ticket for profit, but under the terms and conditions of their sale, he has a responsibility for it.

“We have informed Sir Clive Woodward of the situation, and he is fully supportive of the process we have undertaken.”
