AIL Division Two - review

Division Two continues to be dominated by Dublin clubs with three in the top four, and new leaders Old Belvedere at the summit thanks to four tries against mid-table Malone at Anglesea Road.

Belvedere’s 26-22 against the Ulster side puts them two points in front of second-placed Bective who have out-half Fergal Campion to thank for their second draw of the season with his penalty and drop goal to Joel O’Callaghan’s penalty double at Donnybrook in their 6-6 stalemate.

Dublin University moved ahead of Barnhall into fourth as they held off DLSP 12-9. Former Division One kingpins Terenure claimed their seventh win of the season as tries from Richie Governey and John Bollard helped them to a 28-10 success over Barnhall at Lakelands.

Midleton out-half Brian Morris kicked his side into a 9-9 draw with Waterpark. Thomond touched down three times in their 21-7 win at Young Munster, which moves them five points clear of their fellow strugglers.

At Rosbrien, bottom side Sunday’s Well narrowly failed to surprise home side Old Crescent as an injury time Paul McDonagh try and conversion from Crescent out-half Eamonn Molloy saw the home side take a one-point win – 29-28.

Number 8 David Faville started the Crescent scoring in the 2nd minute and they secured a one-point half time lead through efforts from left wing Emmet Dalton and out-half Molloy.

'Well hit back with two Jonathan Lynch penalties, and despite the sin-binning of inside centre Sakoma Chirwa, a smart move on 38 minutes saw his midfield partner James Kingston score a converted try after great recycling from right wing Dave Power.

Adam O’Loughlin put the home side 22-16 in front on 55 minutes, before Lynch touched down in the left corner just past the hour mark. He failed with the touchline convert and missed a 71st minute penalty from 35 metres.

Lynch scorched under the posts four minutes later and converted for what looked like Well’s third win of the season before full back McDonagh scored in added time.
