Scot Campbell retires for business career

Leeds Tykes’ Scottish international Stewart Campbell has retired from professional rugby with immediate effect.

The 31-year-old, who joined the Tykes in June 2002 from Italian club Benetton Treviso, gained 18 caps for his country before moving from Glasgow.

But he has decided to hang up his boots to concentrate on his business career.

Leeds director of rugby Phil Davies said: “Stewart has been a tremendous servant to Leeds Tykes and on behalf of everyone at the club I would like to thank him and wish him all the best for his future career.

“Stewart is keen to establish his own company and therefore we have been able to come to an agreement that will free him to put all his efforts into that.

“During his time at the club he has always been highly professional both on and off the field and I’m sure that will stand him in good stead for his new career.”

Campbell, who has a degree in architecture from the University of Dundee, has established an online construction design company and he will remain living in the Leeds area.
