Redpath to miss French trip

Scotland international Bryan Redpath has been ruled out of Sale’s Heineken Cup trip to Biarritz on Saturday after injuring his shoulder in last week’s victory over Cardiff Blues in the same competition.

His place in Biarritz will be taken by Nick Walshe, who deputised for him during the World Cup.

Head coach Jim Mallinder said: “Bryan is making progress but we won’t risk him and the same applies to players like Stuart Pinkerton and Steve Hanley who are almost recovered from injury.

“They will, however, travel in order to continue their treatment over the weekend with our medical team as we are hoping to have all three fit for next week’s Zurich Premiership game against Harlequins.”
