England players relax on golf course
England’s players enjoyed a relaxing few hours on the golf course today, ahead of their final World Cup group game against Uruguay this weekend.
Sponsors Zurich organised some friendly competition for players and media at the picturesque Hope Island course on Queensland’s Gold Coast.
But it will be back to serious business tomorrow, when England hit the training ground and then move up to Brisbane on Monday for World Cup quarter-final week.
“We are very pleased that Zurich put these type of events on,” said England head coach Clive Woodward.
“This week has been about working hard on the players’ conditioning, and the rest of the time clearing their minds and getting away from all the coaching.
“If we can win on Sunday, we change our mindset completely. We move out of our lovely hotel, a kind of holiday resort, and go into Brisbane where our mindset is on whoever we are playing in the quarter-finals.”
