Glasgow dump Warriors out of Cup
Celtic Warriors 9, Glasgow 19 (full-time)
Two tries early in the second half settled this scrappy Celtic Cup first round match at the Brewery Field and sent Glasgow marching into the quarter-finals with a shock victory.
Warriors, who won their first two league games against Borders and Leinster, had more possession and territorial advantage but were unable to turn it into points through sloppy passing and continual errors.
Captain and flanker Cameron Mather and fly-half Calvin Howarth scored the only tries of the game within the first 10 minutes of the second half.
It was 6-6 at the interval with kicking legend Neil Jenkins having put over a brace of penalties for the Warriors and Howarth landing two for Glasgow. Both kickers got another penalty after the interval.
Winger Aisea Havili threatened the Glasgow line a couple of times with his pace but creative moves came to nothing because of passes going astray and the ball being dropped.
Both sides missed several of their stars absent on World Cup duty but Glasgow looked the more dangerous when in possession.
