Ballymena beat Clontarf in AIL final cracker
Ballymena 28 Clontarf 18
Three second-half tries helped Ballymena to win their first ever All-Ireland League title after scoring a 28-18 victory over a gallant Clontarf side in an entertaining final at Lansdowne Road.
Out-half Adam Larkin bagged a brace of tries for the new champions who also had a smashing try from winger James Topping.
Clontarf led 10-6 at the break, with all their points coming from centre Darragh O'Shea.
Larkin's first try just after the break put the Ulster side in front and they stretched further clear in the third quarter.
An Ollie Winchester try for Clontarf on 65 minutes gave the Dublin side hope but a drop-goal from Larkin in injury time set the seal on Ballymena' s victory.
