Woodman fit for England

England prop Trevor Woodman has been passed fit to take his place on the bench for Sunday’s Grand Slam decider in Dublin.

Fears that Woodman would be forced out of the match arose after he injured his back during scrummaging practise at the team’s Pennyhill Park hotel training headquarters this week.

But an England spokesman said today: “Trevor will be fit. He has taken a full part in training today.”

But Gloucester scrum-half Andy Gomarsall has been forced out of the England A team to play Ireland A tomorrow night by a groin injury.

Nick Walshe, of Sale, originally named as a replacement, has been promoted to take his place with Martyn Wood, of Wasps, called up to the bench.
