Fighting fit Lansdowne see off Shannon threat

Lansdowne 28 Shannon 20

A courageous performance from Lansdowne was enough to see off a determined Shannon at Lansdowne Road today.

The visitors were without their Munster contingent, apart from Eddie Halvey, who was struggling with injury all week, but any Shannon side is never easily beaten.

Lansdowne got off to the better start with Fiachra Baynes and Brian O'Mahony getting early tries to put the home side into a 15-3 lead at the break.

Eddie Halvey added two tries for Shannon in the second half, but they always trailed. A Karl Becker solo try from his own 22 put the icing on the cake in the closing minutes to keep Lansdowne in the race for a top four spot.
