Public meeting in Connacht to discuss funding threat

A public meeting has been arranged by a group of Connacht supporters known as Friends of Connacht Rugby to discuss the threat to IRFU funding for the province.

It will he held in the Galway Radisson SAS Hotel on Wednesday January 15 at 8.00pm. Admission is free and open to the public.

The meeting has the backing of the leading clubs in Connacht including Galwegians, Buccaneers and Corinthians.

The organisers hope rugby supporters, players and officials in Connacht will contribute.

"This meeting has been called due to the palpable sense of outrage which exists in the Connacht

rugby community at the apparent threat to our existence," said a group spokesman.

"There is a huge willingness amongst rugby people to take action rather than sit idly by."
